The Health Service Executive says it hopes to progress a number of projects at Portiuncula Hospital in early 2021.

The plans include a new modular building to provide additional clinic room space at the hospital and the completion of works on the Radiology Department.

The HSE says that a modular building is anticipated to be delivered to Portiuncula University Hospital this month, it will be fitted out in early 2021 to be available for use by the end of February 2021.

It also says a feasibility exercise is currently underway to see if a further potential capital project might be developed to allow the current Out Patients Department be converted to
a 14 bed ward area and that the new modular building be used solely for Out Patients.

This would require remodelling and refurbishment of the current OPD area and it's hoped that subject to funding, this project might potentially be progressed during 2021.

Prequalification documentation is due to be published on e-tenders for the main construction works to deliver the new 50 bed ward block in early January and it's
envisaged that tenders for the project will be sought from this short list in late March 2021.
