There are plans to partly turn one of Carrick-on-Shannon's most historic buildings into apartments. Padraig Glancy says Clooneigh Partnership want to turn the second floor of the Bank of Ireland building in Bridge Street into three two-bed apartments and one studio apartment.

A planning application has been lodged with Leitrim County Council and involves the change of use from office space. Carrick businessman Fintan Cox says more long-term housing is badly needed in the town:
