The masts will carry measuring devices such as thermometers and instruments to measure wind speed.

Plans have been lodged for two separate 100m meteorological masts in Roscommon.

The applications made by Energia Renewable Ireland Limited call for a temporary meteorological mast at Skeavally and Dysart in Co Roscommon.

The latticed weather masts will be 100m in height and will be secured by guy wire.
