Planning permission is being sought to double the life span of an already approved Solar farm in Longford.
EEPV2 Limited has sought to extend the lifespan of the development from 25 years to 40 years at Lisnageerah near Edgeworthstown in Longford.
The company received planning permission in 2016 for a solar farm capable of outputting over four mega watts.
Plans included the photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames, a single storey terminal station, 4 single storey inverter stations as well as ducting & electrical cabling,
The original permission was the subject of push backs from locals at the time over concerns about energy infrastructure and the effect the farm would have on local property prices.
The award of permission was subsequently appealed to An Bord Pleanála with the higher planning body upholding the council's decision.
The company have also lodged a separate planning application, seeking revisions to the terminal station to provide a revised 20kV substation, which in turn would lead to the building being larger than first constructed.
Longford planners will decide on both applications at the end of August.
