An application to build a new waste transfer facility in the environs of Longford town has been refused planning permission.
Longford Environmental Ltd applied to Longford County Council for permission to create the new facility within a secured compound at Townspark Industrial Estate in the town; they also wanted to replace roofs and install solar panels.
However, the local authority refused says that no information in relation to the actual proposed use for the site was submitted with the application, nor was there a change of use application for the location in order for it to host a waste transfer facility.
The council also pointed towards the lock of detail in relation to what, if any, environmental impact the waste or emissions from such a facility would have on the area and stated that the application was "extremely deficient" in relation to traffic figures.
If Longford Environmental plan to challenge the decision, they will need to do so by August 28th.
