Permission sought to extend operation of local solar farm

An energy company has applied for planning permission to extend the operation of a solar farm in County Roscommon.

EEPV11 Limited are seeking to extend the lifespan of the solar farm at Rathleg in Castlerea from 30 years to 40 years.

The proposed extension would consist of a change in the use of the land from agricultural use to solar farm use.

It would also maintain the permitted solar farm structures on site during the extended operational period.

Roscommon County Council is due to make a decision on the application on the 7th of December while submissions can be made until the 16th of November.
