The Longford man who founded the Irish World newspaper has died.
Paddy Cowan established and published the popular paper in 1987.
The paper confirmed his death on Twitter this evening.
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death, a short time ago, in London, of Paddy Cowan, the owner and publisher of The Irish World, peacefully with his family by his bedside. He will be missed. May he Rest in Peace.

The 78-year-old was also a Life President of the Longford Association in London.
