New traffic system planned for Boyle could have 'significant' impact on postal services

In its submission, An Post has raised concerns about the changes planned to two junctions.

An Post is concerned a new traffic system planned for Boyle could have a 'significant knock-on effect' on postal services.
Local councillors will consider the plan at their meeting tomorrow.
Roscommon County Council is putting together a Local Transport Plan for Boyle.
A draft version was published in April and the council asked for feedback from the public, and they got 11 submissions.
The council wants to make more of the town one-way, such as Military Road, Main Street, Shop Street, the Carrick Road and Bridge Street.

In its submission, An Post has raised concerns about the changes planned to two junctions.
It says, given the scale of An Post's operations and the daily deployment of a large fleet of vehicles, any disruption to vehicular access or collection points including retail offices, delivery service units, and post boxes can have significant knock-on effects.
It says such disruptions risk undermining An Post's ability to meet public postal needs and fulfil its legal obligations to the state.
Councillors in the Boyle Municipal District will discuss this and the other 10 submissions at their meeting tomorrow morning.
