The Shannonside region is among the best places in the country to raise a family. A new survey by QuoteDevil weighed up key metrics such as schools, crime rates and access to green spaces. Counties Roscommon, Longford and Leitrim are each in the top ten. The survey places Roscommon in sixth, followed by Longford in seventh. Leitrim, meanwhile is in tenth.
Mayo topped the table, offering an 'appealing lifestyle' with relatively affordable house prices. The analysis ranked Donegal and Kerry in second and third. In terms of counties facing the biggest challenges for family living, Kildare, Louth and Wicklow rounded off the top three.
