The newly appointed MEP for the Midlands North West constituency says the size of the area he will now have to represent doesn't faze him.

Louth Fine Gael Councillor Colm Markey was appointed to replace Mairead McGuinness after she was chosen as the new EU Commissioner following Phil Hogan's recent resignation.

Colm Markey who runs a family farm in Togher in Louth says his previous experience as President to Macra na Feirme and his involvement with the local Leader partnership should stand him in good stead when it comes to representing people at EU level.
