A number of groups and communities around Carrick-on-Shannon have held meetings in recent weeks to voice their concerns about the Carrick-Dromod road project

A new community based group in Leitrim is hoping to encourage planners to examine less densely populated areas for a major improvement to the N4 in the county.

Save the Upper Shannon has been established as an umbrella group to gather all communities along the proposed route of the Carrick- Dromod Road project to voice their opposition as a singular group.

Leslie O Hora, who has established the group, says there needs to be an overall focus on the Upper Shannon region, and the impact of further development in the region.

He feels a more holistic approach to development, and the road plans is required.
