A man in his 20s is due in court today following a series of break-ins to cars in Athlone.
The man was arrested by Gardai in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a number of incidents involving vehicles in the Connacht Street area of the town.
The man was charged with criminal damage to eight cars, as well as the theft of items from one vehicle, and stealing another car.

Gardai believe the man travelled to Athlone from Dublin earlier this week before his involvement in the multiple incidents.
The 28-year-old is due in court in Mullingar this afternoon.
