A man in his 50s has died after being hit by a lorry on the M6 in Galway earlier this morning.
It happened after he got out of his vehicle on the westbound carriageway close to Athenry shortly after 5 o'clock.
His body has since been removed to University Hospital Galway.

A technical examination of the scene is continuing, and the road remains closed between junctions 17 and 18, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
