Gardaí say the incident has now been cleared and traffic is moving freely again.

The incident involving a truck and jeep has lead to tailbacks in the Sligo direction.

Gardaí attended the scene overnight and investigations are ongoing.

It happened at around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon on the M6 Eastbound between Tyrellspass and Rochfortbridge.

In the latest collision, a woman in her 20s was killed in Co Donegal having being hit by a car yesterday evening.

The road is closed for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the car was brought to Tullamore Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The collision happened at around 6.30 am on the N61 close to Walsh's Roundabout.
