There's good news today for the development of sports facilities in Mohill.
Mohill Park Sports and Leisure Facility has secured a grant of €300,000 under the social inclusion Leader funds.
The local community will still have to raise matching funds to build a new two storey building to include dressing rooms, a recreation fitness area, and a general purpose room beside the sports field there.

Local councillor Thomas Mulligan says the funding is great news for the project which has suffered a couple of setbacks in recent years.
He says the buildings at the facility haven't really been fit for purpose for some years, and it's hoped that with a contractor already selected, work can begin in the near future.
