Local church goers are doing their best to keep their parishes afloat financially.

That's according to Fr Vincent Connaughton who is the Parish Priest in Ardagh, Co Longford.

He says while money is important, the most important thing for every parish, is the faith of the people.

Ireland is the only country in Europe where you can't now attend a place of worship due to Covid restrictions.

Fr Connaughton says while it is taking its toll on church finances, the church has to cut its cloth to measure like every other organisation

Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, he says they have been very grateful for the generosity of people in rural parishes like his.
