Longford IFA Chairman Gavin White is welcoming the return of some buyers and sellers to the mart rings this week.
The ending of Level 5 Covid restrictions means that marts can now go back to operating under Level 3 which allows some farmers to attend.
Speaking on Let's Talk today Gavin White says that while things aren't back to normal, he feels the combination of people attending, and an online service will create enough competition for decent prices.
He also says it's likely that marts will keep the online system in use on a permanent basis, alongside the more traditional ringside buying and selling.
