A Longford Councillor says the county needs more Gardaí. Fianna Fáil's Seamus Butler has been speaking after no new Gardaí have been allocated for Roscommon-Longford from the newest batch of graduates. It follows the attestation of 167 new Gardaí at Templemore College today.
104 of those will be deployed to Dublin Metropolitan Region, 21 assigned to the Southern Region, 31 to the Eastern Region and 11 to the North-Western Region. Cllr Butler says more Gardaí on the streets would provide reassurance for the public:
