Longford council chair says ESB should consult Lanesboro residents about power station

The Cathaoirleach of Longford Council Paul Ross wants the ESB to meet with local groups as part of their review and assessment process ahead of the closure of the power station in Lanesboro.

Speaking following a presentation from ESB about the closure of the station at the end of this year Councillor Ross said it appears clear that ESB may well sell off the boiler at the station for biomass burning elsewhere, but there's still the question of the use for the rest of the site.

He says groups in Lanesboro should be consulted with so that the agency can find out how best to act for the good of the local area.
