Over ten million euro has been announced for a major investment in Longford town, with 2.4 million being provided for Athlone.
The money is provided to enhance the lower main street are of Longford town centre, under a plan called the 'Camlin Quarter' while Athlone's funding is being allocated for works at Church Strete and working on derelict sites
The works in Longford will centre on the area near the former Connolly Barracks, as well as the Providers building at the corner of Richmond Street.

She believes today's announcement is as big an investment for the town as Center Parcs was to the south of the county :
