Publicans in the Shannonside region say they are just happy to be back in businesses after six months.

Pubs that don't serve food have opened in all counties today expect Dublin, where 'wet pubs' must stay closed for another 3 weeks at least.

Drinks must be served to tables and physical distancing has to be maintained between tables.

Longford publican, Andy Byrne opened his pub at noon today with his regular lunchtime customers returning, some meeting each other for the first time since March.

He says not having customers at the counter is different, but people are glad to be back to some kind of 'normality'.
