Social media abuse won't stop Dáil campaign says local Senator

The Ballinalee man and local postmaster was the subject of a harassment campaign in January 2022 involving threats to himself and his young children.

A Longford Senator selected to run for Dáíl Eireann in the next General Election says social media abuse will not stop him from doing his job. Fine Gael's Micheal Carrigy was put forward to seek a seat in the Longford Westmeath Consistency along side Minister for Trade and Enterprise Peter Burke. The Ballinalee man and local postmaster was the subject of a harassment campaign in January 2022 involving threats to himself and his young children.

A man pleaded guilty to the offence that included text, voice and social media messages to the Longford Senator. Speaking to Let's Talk today following his selection, Senator Carrigy says he will continue to do his job regardless of any abuse:
