A Castlerea political activist and daughter of Luke 'Ming' Flanagan has officially ruled herself out of this year's local elections.

Isabelle Flanagan, a college student in Sligo, said now was not the right time to consider running in the Roscommon area. A former secretary of the Social Democrats, Isabelle had previously stated her intention to run on Shannonside FM. However, this week she confirmed she was ruling herself out of June's elections due to college work and her father's European elections campaign.
