Local charities receive yearly allocations to support animal welfare

Animal welfare organisations in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are being allocated over €175,000 euro by the Department of Agriculture. It includes €82,500

Animal welfare organisations in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are being allocated over €175,000 euro by the Department of Agriculture.

It includes €82,500 for the Newtownforbes based Hungry Horse Sanctuary and €5,000 for Longford SPCA.

Cavan SPCA, based in Shankill, Cavan, is to receive €30,000 and Kitten Cottage Animal Sanctuary, in Virginia, is to get €6,000.

The Fairyglen Community Animal Sanctuary, in Arigna, in Roscommon is to recevie €11,000 ,with Roscommon SPCA,based in Castlerea, getting €22,000.

€19,000 euro to go towards Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre in Drumkeeran, Co Leitrim.
