Just over 40% all homes in the Shannonside region which require the government to connect them to high speed internet have been surveyed so far.
New figures published by the Minister for the Environment show that in Roscommon just over 18% of homes in 'amber' area of the National Broadband Plan have been surveyed so far.
It will be a year this Wednesday since the government signed the multi-billion euro contract for the National Broadband Plan .
However, the roll-out of high-speed internet in many areas of the Shannonside region, for premises who are dependent on the government connecting them through the fibre network remains frustrating.
Details revealed by Minister Eamon Ryan in the Dail show that 3,591 premises in Roscommon in the so-called 'Amber Area' have been surveyed so far by NBI - out of a total of 19,059 or just over 18% of the total.
In Leitrim, out of over eleven-and-a-half-thousand-premises to require state led broadband connections - just over 3,500 have been surveyed so far - a rate of 30%.
Longford has recorded the best survey results of the three local Shannonside counties - with 38% of all premises in the 'Amber Area' so far surveyed - a total of 3,294 surveyed out of 8,602.
There is better news for Roscommon as the Minister also confirmed that broadband surveys in Cloonarragh and Loughglynn are due to commence in the second quarter of 2021.
