Just 4 percent of a major government energy refit allocated to local homes

The programme will only help 106 homes in the Shannonside region out of a national target of 2,400.

Just 4 percent of a Government target for energy saving home retrofits are residences in the Shannonside region.

The Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme supports councils with retrofitting of local authority owned homes, including insulation and energy upgrade works.

The government hope to refit 2,400 social homes this year as part of a national target, with just 106 of these properties in the Shannonside region.

Roscommon County council has been allocated 52 social home upgrades in the 2022 Programme, the highest level locally.

That's followed by Longford where the local authority will receive support for the upgrade of 38 council owned homes.

Leitrim will see the lowest allocation in the country, with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government including 16 properties on their target for energy efficiency upgrades this year.
