Residents of Roscommon town will not see any major visible improvements to the town centre just yet as work begins on the public realm project.
P&D Lydon Contractors from Cong, Co Mayo are beginning phase one of six phases of the 12 month programme of works on the top of Goff Street this week.
It will involve underground works to improve sewerage and storm water channels.

Senior Executive Officer with Roscommon County Council, Fiona Ni Chuinn says this work will take seven weeks and once the contractor moves up to Main Street, people will begin to see what improvements are being made.
