Increase in number of burglaries in Shannonside region this year

270 burglaries have been recorded in the Shannonside Region so far this year, a significant increase on the previous year. New figures released by the CSO breakdown criminal incidents across Garda divisions nationwide.

Gardaí in Roscommon and Longford saw the highest number of burglaries in the first three quarters of 2023, with 153 separate incidents, up from 130 in Q3 2022. 117 burglaries were reported to Gardaí in the Sligo/Leitrim Division between January and September, a rise of 47 from the same period last year. Nationally, close to 6,800 burglaries were investigated by Gardaí in the first 9 months of 2023.
