A judge has said that an incident outside of Longford Post office was nothing short of hooligan behaviour after four members of the same family pleaded guilty to violent disorder outside a post office the week before Christmas.
Three men and woman were told to keep their bibs clean or they would be facing jail by Judge Keenan Johnson at Longford Circuit Court.
Martin Nevin Senior, of 67, Farnagh, Longford, and Helen Nevin, with the same address, previously pleaded guilty to one charge of violent disorder.
24-year-old William 'Billy' Nevin, of 67, Grian Ard, Longford, also pleaded guilty to violent disorder on Main Street on December 16th last as did John Nevin, of 12, Legion Terrace, Longford.
Judge Keenan Johnson said the four accused would receive significant credit for their early guilty pleas, and that time spent in prison by some of the accused had been 'well spent'.
He claimed the incident on December 16rth last was an affront to civilised society and that the accused would need to keep their bibs clean to avoid prison.
The four were ordered to bring €1500 to court on their next appearance and to enter into a bond to keep the peace until finalisation of matters on June 1st 2021.
The court heard that a number of other individuals charged in connection with the same incident, had elected to go to trial and he would finalise matters after that process had concluded.
