Funeral arrangements have been made for Sister Brigid Reynolds. Sr Brigid passed away on Saturday at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin. She was 82 years old. Sr Brigid was born and raised in Finiskill, outside of Mohill and attend the Marist Convent in Carrick-on-Shannon. She graduated with a science degree from University College Dublin before entering the Marist Sisters Religious Order and being assigned to Kaduna in the north of Nigeria.
On her return from Nigeria, Sr Brigid spent a year teaching science in a secondary school in Dublin, before being recruited by The Conference of Major Religious Superiors, which was later renamed the Conference of Religious of Ireland (CORI). Together with her former CORI colleague Seán Healy, Sr Brigid co-founded Social Justice Ireland in 2009, which they led until their retirement in 2023. She is survived by her sister Maura and her brothers; Joe, Peter and Padraig.
Her mass of the resurrection will take place at St. Mary’s Church in Carrick-on-Shannon on Wednesday at 12 o’clock. Burial will follow in the Convent Cemetery.
