Former cathaoirleach is a potential candidate in upcoming local elections

The Ballaghaderreen man was a Fine Gael councillor between 1991 and 2004 and is a long-time community activist.

Former cathaoireach of Roscommon County Council, Michael Scally, is considering a political comeback by running in the local elections in June.
The Ballaghaderreen man was a Fine Gael councillor between 1991 and 2004 and is a long-time community activist.
The retired schoolteacher spoke passionately about the decline of the west Roscommon town at a public meeting about modular housing for refugees this week.

Mr Scally says he has been coming under pressure from the business and wider population to run as a community candidate in the local elections.
He says he is considering doing so and will make a final decision in the coming weeks.
