Residents in Ballaghaderreen say they have mounting concerns over a strong odour in the town in recent weeks.
The Environmental Protection Agency confirmed to Shannonside FM that they received a complaint on July 28th last and are currently investigating the source of the smell.
In a statement the local authority say they have also been notified of the unpleasant stench but are not in a position to act due to the licensing of the source.

However, Roscommon County Council have advised locals to contact the EPA with their complaints.
In a post on social media residents in the West Roscommon town claim they are unable to keep windows and doors open particularly during hot weather.
