Funding of €300,000 euro has been allocated for the operation of a Greenway Project Office in Ballinasloe.
The funding comes as part of the announcement for the Transport Infrastructure Ireland Grant Allocations for National Roads across the country.
The team developing the cycleway from the west side of the bridge in Athlone down across parts of Roscommon and into Galway are presently located in offices beside the new library on Society Street in Ballinasloe.
Fine Gael Senator Aisling Dolan says that in the first round of public consultations in September 2020 there was a large amount of submissions on the project and she's happy to see continuing commitments for the project team in the town.
Senator Dolan says the cycleway will be a fantastic infrastructure for families and communities to walk and cycle safely and will transform areas it runs through.
