The Dutch Ambassador to Ireland says it's important to develop an integrated approach to tourism on the waterways.
His Excellency Adriaan Palm was speaking on a visit to Carrick on Shannon and Longford where he met with council officials and businesses returning to full capacity after Covid restrictions.
As well as working with his country on key issues such as implementing remote working, and climate change, Mr Palm says developing numerous activities along the waterways will be key to its success.

He says it's not enough to just focus on cycling alone.
