It was a day of dramatic shocks in round four of the Connacht Gold Leitrim senior football championship as Aughwillian were eliminated from the championship.

Fenagh St. Cailins were far too strong for Aughwillian recording a 2-15 to 2-10 victory with Fenagh’s first goal coming on four minutes from Riordan O’Rourke

Sean Flanaghan scored a penalty for the willies on 11 minutes to make it 1-3 to 1-2 in Carrick’s favour, but Fenagh responded in a tit for tat affair leading 1-7 to 1-6 at the break.

The game changed before the first second half water break as Fenagh moved into a 1-12 to 1-8 lead and then added a second goal via Ryan O’Rourke’s fist.

Fenagh led 2-15 to 1-10 as the game entered its final moments, when Fergal McTauge saw red for a second yellow. Sean Flanagan grabbed a goal in the final moments to make 2-15 to 2-10 but Pearce Dolan saw red after receiving a yellow and black card.

Earlier in the day the championships biggest shock as St Mary's-Kiltoghert scored a 19 points to 1-15 win over Ballinamore-Sean O'Heslin's.

Mary’s were the better side throughout and trailed just once the final moments as they registered their second victory of the championship, leading 10 points to seven at half-time.

The expected Ballinamore fight back arrived in the second half and a goal four minutes into stoppage time but them 1-15 to 17 points clear.

But St. Mary’s fought back with two late points to seal victory and guarantee a quarter-final spot.

In group two Melvin Gaels stunned Glencar-Manorhamilton with a 4-11 to 1-14 victory to move top of group two.

While Leitrim Gaels sealed their quarter-final place with an impressive 13 points to 1-8 win over Drumreilly.

Just three points separated the sides at the break, Leitrim leading seven points to four before Gaels taking total control by the water break leading 13 points to five.

A late Drumreilly goal took some of the gloss off the Leitrim victory, but they now move to second in group two with one round of games remaining.
