The recently elected Cathaoirleach of the Carrick-on-Shannon MD is hopeful the proposed bypass can continue to progress. Costing up to €500 million, it involves a 6-kilometre road around the town, from the Dublin Road to the Boyle Road. This week's meeting of the LEA has heard construction won't commence until 2029 with submission to An Coimisiún Pleanála in the last three months of this year.
