Charity cycle in memory of a local child taking place across the weekend

CJ McCann from Ballaghaderreen was just 21 months old when he passed away last October following a battle against ATRT, which is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

A charity cycle from Malin to Mizen is taking place across the next few days in memory of a local child who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer last year. CJ McCann from Ballaghaderreen was just 21 months old when he passed away last October following a battle against ATRT, which is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. CJ's father Joe along with twenty other cyclists are taking on the challenge, which is passing through Ballaghaderreen this lunchtime.

Today's cycle is 180km which will be finishing up in Loughrea, Co Galway later today. All funds raised from the cycle will be donated to Hand in Hand and Oscar's Kids charities. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, CJ's mother Niamh says he taught her so much during his short life:
