Calls for a minor injuries unit to be developed in Carrick-on-Shannon

Construction of a new community hospital located on the Leitrim Road is expected to be completed in early 2027.

This month's meeting of the Carrick Municipal District heard calls for a development of a minor injuries unit locally.

Construction of a new community hospital located on the Leitrim Road is expected to be completed in early 2027.

The new unit, with a contract construction value in excess of €38 million, will contain 90 beds facilitating long stay, short stay and dementia wards.

It was recently confirmed by the HSE that community diagnostics are planned for the St Patrick's building in the town.

Cllr Reynolds feels that the addition a minor injuries unit, similar to that in Roscommon, would reduce the pressure on other services:
