The Chairman of Boyle Town Team says he believes work starting on the refurbishment of the Royal hotel in the town next year will be the catalyst for several other positive developments in the area.
Brian Nerney says a lot of people have been waiting to see the promised development actually begin even though the funding has been in place for some time.
Roscommon Council bought the building after it had lain vacant for several years, and the refurbishment will see it turned into a hub for start-up for businesses, as well as providing civic space for exhibitions and performances, and access to a promenade alongside the Boyle River.
Funding of over two million was secured for the project under the Rural Regeneration Fund, and the local authority is also investing significant money.
The contract for work to start on the project next January was signed this week with Cavan based company Elliot Properties Limited.
Brian Nerney says the work beginning will be the first of many positive sights in the north Roscommon town over the coming months.
