A new 'bike bus' initiative has been launched at a Longford primary school. Pupils at St John's National School now cycle to school once a week, supervised by their teachers and Gardaí.
It's in an effort to promote active travel and educate children about road safety. The students cycle from Slashers GAA club in Longford to the Battery Road, where a multi-million euro cycleway was officially opened by Minister Sean Canney last year. Principal Daphne Barden says there were many factors that kept children away from cycling:
