Gardaí in Athlone are advising shop owners to be on their guard following an incident yesterday where a trick was used to get money in a shop.
It's understood a man was involved in the incident which also involved a transaction with four €50 euro notes.
The deception is aimed at confusing shop workers who end up mistakenly giving the person more money than they should.

Businesspeople are advised to warn staff about the trick and report any detected attempts to gardai.
