An Athlone councillor says the efforts made by school principals, staff, and volunteers appears to have been a bit overlooked this week.
Fianna Fail councillor Aengus O' Rourke says while there's obviously been a lot of news about schools re-opening in recent days, the behind-the-scenes work which was necessary to make sure it happened hasn't been highlighted.
The Fianna Fail councillor says he visited 13 primary and post-primary schools in the Athlone area as part of his work in the last six weeks, and had been hugely impressed with the efforts made by everyone involved.
