Just over €53,000 worth of illegal drugs and psychoactive substances have been seized at Athlone Mail Centre this week.
The 7 kilos of substances seized on Monday included herbal cannabis, cannabis resin, hash cakes, benzodiazepines and cannabis infused "jellies" and "chocolates".
The drugs and substances were discovered by detector dog Bailey in a series of parcels which had been declared as "hair bows", "football memorabilia" and "photos" and were destined for various addresses throughout Ireland.
