A total of 176 mobile phones were reported stolen across the Shannonside region in the last 20 months.
Nationally around around €5 million euro worth of phones have been stolen since the beginning of last year.
Figures released by gardai this morning show last year that 98 were reported as having been taken in the Sligo/Leitrim division since January of last year, and there were 78 incidents reported in the Roscommon/Longford division over the same time frame.

People are being advised to download a special app so as to make it easier to trace their phones if they're stolen or lost.
