The figures have been published as part of an RTÉ Investigates report into dereliction and how it is being managed.
When a property is registered as derelict, a local authority can initiate a process to acquire it.

The council can then sell or develop the property.
Department of Housing data for 2021 to 2024 show that some councils use this tool while others do not at all.
Seven have taken place in Roscommon, four in Monaghan and two each in Longford and Cavan.
Leitrim, by contrast, did not submit any data.
Limerick City and County recorded the highest number nationally at 159
