A yearly allocation of €350,000 over the next five years has been secured for the upkeep of trails along counties Longford and Roscommon.
The investment aims to boost tourism and enhance amenities along the Midlands trail network.
The trail network was developed under the Just Transition Fund and the allocation will open new landscapes and habitats for recreational use.
Enhancement along the network over the coming years are expected to create jobs, support habitats, and the local biodiversity.
