A woman has been hospitalised following a house fire in Longford over the weekend. The blaze broke out at a house in Ardnacassa Lawns on Saturday evening shortly before 10 o'clock. The Fire Service, Gardaí and an ambulance attended the scene off the Dublin road with fire crews successfully bringing the blaze under control.
A woman in her 40s was taken to Mullingar Regional Hospital for suspected smoke inhalation. The property suffered extensive damage to an upstairs bedroom, with the fire tackled before it could spread to a neighbouring property. Local Gardaí are not currently treating the matter as a criminal investigation.
