Woman due in court after attempted theft from Longford supermarket

A woman is due in court in Athlone this morning after the attempted theft of several hundred euro worth of goods from a Longford town centre supermarket last night.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was arrested as part of a Garda operation targeting organised crime, and gardai are continuing searches for male accomplice Gardai believe was with the woman in the shop but who managed to escape.

The woman is due to appear at Athlone District Court today.

Separately, a woman in her 20s from Longford town has been charged following an assault  and criminal damage incidents in the last fortnight.

She is also due in court in Athlone today.
