Just over 20 per cent of prisoners locally reoffended within one year of being released.
That's one of the findings of a new report published by the CSO.
In 2023, 43 prisoners were released across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.
A total of 20 were released in Longford, 14 in Roscommon, while there were nine in Leitrim.
Of these nine were convicted of a crime within one year after their release from custody.
Roscommon saw the highest with 4, there were three reoffenders in Longford and in Leitrim, there were two.
Nationally, 2,987 prisoners were released in 2023, 1251 of who reoffended within one year of being released.
