Westmeath Student honoured by Tánaiste at MyEU50 competition

A Westmeath student was honoured by Tánaiste Micheál Martin at an exhibition of the MyEU50 competition recently.

Athlone native Steven Hardiman was named as a finalist of the Third Level competition which aims to mark 50 years of Ireland’s EU membership.

Over 5,000 pupils and students participated in the nationwide competition, which finals took place in University College Cork.

The judges were impressed by Steven Hardiman's entry titled 'This is Democracy', in which he expressed his perspective on one of the EU's core values.
